The Social Work Association is a student-led organization that aims to build relationships within the College of Social Work while providing service to the Lexington community. It is the purpose of the SWA to: (A) promote social justice while providing community service, (B) provide opportunities for continuing education, and (C) develop students as professional social workers.

Student Ambassador Activities
• Assisting with new student recruitment at UK sponsored events such as Come See Blue for Yourself Events
• Traveling with the UK recruitment team to work See Blue Preview Nights in various cities
• Hosting College of Social Work sponsored events (ex. Rosenstein Lecture, Social Work Month, Open House Events)
• Contacting prospective students and their families
• Representing the College of Social Work throughout the community

Phi Alpha Honor Society
Phi Alpha is a national honor society for social workers. Both undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to join the organization and are invited to apply both fall and spring semesters. There is a lifetime dues of $20.00 to join the Honor Society. Undergraduate social work majors are required to have completed 9 hours of professional social work classes with an A or B in each course, and have at least a 3.35 cumulative GPA with a minimum of a 3.5 social work major GPA. Graduate students are required to have completed 15 hours of graduate social work courses and have a minimum GPA of 3.8.
