Diversity and Inclusivity Awareness
an Undergraduate Certificate for University of Kentucky Students
The Undergraduate Certificate in Diversity and Inclusivity Awareness is a 12 credit hour certificate. This certificate, housed within the College of Social Work, is open to students from all academic majors and is complementary to many different majors & minors. The certificate is multidisciplinary and allows students to explore difference in cultures and lived experiences, the social influences resulting from those differences, and how those influences shape the human experience.
Understanding difference is foundational to the 21st century workforce. Further, a lack of understanding of and commitment to diversity and inclusivity is detrimental to the world around us. Certificate courses allow you to better understand the complexities of the world around us and what your role is in creating change.
Undergraduates from any major who want a well-rounded education related to diversity and inclusion and who see Undergraduates from any major who want a well-rounded education related to diversity and inclusion and who see themselves as change makers in the world around us are eligible.
The certificate is completed by earning 12 credit hours of approved courses in the Colleges of Social Work, Education, Fine Arts, and Arts & Sciences. All students must take Social Work 325: Social Justice Foundations. Additional courses may be selected from approved courses. Students must earn a C or higher in each certificate-eligible course.
