Jarod T. Giger, PhD is a first-generation college graduate and assistant professor at the University of Kentucky College of Social Work (COSW) since 2015. He earned a PhD in Social Work from the University of Missouri followed by a 2012 rural health fellowship at the National Rural Health Association. In 2016, Dr. Giger was one of seventeen scholars selected to attend the Johns Hopkins University summer research institute on developing behavioral interventions. During his time at UK, he has successfully taught graduate and doctoral research, policy, and community organization courses and conducted community-engaged research projects across the lifespan. His research and teaching interests involve various aspects of the human life course, as well as the larger interdisciplinary field of health service research. Dr. Giger has over 16 years of social work practice experience. Prior to entering academia, Jarod practiced clinical social work in community and hospital settings throughout Missouri and Illinois.
