Addressing the Adverse Impacts of Teen Pregnancy and Parenting Among Black Teen Fathers.

Concentration -

Abstract

The current presentation will focus on the impact that teen pregnancy and parenting have on Black teen fathers. Some key terms that will be used throughout the presentation are Black teen father, psychosocial impact, economic impact, teen pregnancy, and parenting. During this presentation, the presenter will discuss the psychosocial and economic impacts of teen pregnancy and parenting that have been suggested through a current systematic literature review. The conceptual idea that was formulated as a result of the systematic literature review will explain how an Afrocentric-psychosocial-economic framework informs interventions to address the adverse impacts that Black teen fathers face. This framework is the basis for an innovative program that has been specially curated for Black teen fathers. The presentation will conclude by describing how this innovative program will be implemented in a practice setting. It is the goal of this presentation to paint a clear picture of the social issues that Black fathers face and discuss how they will be addressed through effective interventions.
