Concentration -

Abstract

The presentation will concentrate on long-term trauma effects on children in the welfare system. This presentation will discuss the importance of knowing trauma symptoms as social workers. During the presentation, participants will be able to identify symptoms of trauma. This presentation looks at how long-term effects such as chronic stress, anxiety, depression, and PTSD can impair an individual’s everyday functioning and quality of life. Children in the welfare system have intersectionality gaps that encompass racial, environmental, and trauma symptoms, needing targeted policies and interventions to assist them. The lecture will include existing research and treatments for long-term trauma effects. The presentation will discuss the effectiveness of the solutions as well as research gaps that should be explored in the future. The presentation will examine what can be done at a macro level in the future to assist in avoiding and treating long-term trauma effects in children.
