The Foster Parent Training Program is holding a training on Adverse and Positive Childhood Experiences at no cost to you!
This training will provide foster parents with information about adverse and positive childhood experiences and how each affect the developing child. Information will be provided about how to identify and encourage the use of positive childhood experiences with their children.
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
- Identify adverse childhood experiences and their long-term consequences
- Discuss the effects of adverse childhood experiences on the brain
- Will have learned techniques that can be used to help children who have experienced adverse childhood experiences
- Identify positive childhood experiences and their long-term benefits

About the Speaker
As a foster and adoptive parent to five children, Angela Jamison understands the unique challenges that foster and adoptive parents face. She has served as an adoptive parent liaison for Adoption Support Kentucky (ASK), and she conducts training events and offers one-on-one support for adoptive, foster and kinship families. Angela has a Master of Social Work from UK, holds a Trauma Responsive Practice Certificate from UK, is a Certified Social Worker in KY and a Licensed Social Worker in Ohio. She is the Executive Director of Fostering Growth Solutions and the Training and Outreach Director, Foster Care & Adoption Specialist with the Children’s Mental Health Resource Center.
