Foster Parent Training Series – Be My Safe Boss: Helping Caregivers Co-Regulate Children in Distress
October 27 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Becoming a foster and/or adoptive parent can present its own unique challenges, especially when the children involved have a complex history of trauma.
The Foster Parent Training Program, housed at the UK TRC, is launching a virtual training series focused on equipping foster/adoptive parents and other caregivers to understand and meet the needs of these children through a trauma-informed perspective.
Be My Safe Boss: Helping Caregivers Co-Regulate Children in Distress
7-9 pm (EST)
Paris Goodyear-Brown, LCSW, RPT-S
These trainings provide information about common parenting challenges including attachment, academic difficulties, emotional/social/behavioral issues, working with children with sexual abuse history, as well as effective strategies for responding to these challenges from a trauma-informed perspective.
Each event is pending approval for ongoing, elective training credit for Kentucky foster parents. Though these trainings are delivered virtually, the trainings do fulfill the face-to-face, group setting requirement. A reliable internet connection and computer/smartphone with webcam are required.
