SUMMARY:Fostering & Adopting Sibling Groups
DESCRIPTION:Fostering & Adopting Sibling Groups explores the benefits of placing siblings together as well as potential barriers and challenges. The impact of on attachment and bonding among siblings who have experienced trauma is discussed. Considerations related to caring for a sibling placement are explored. \nAfter completing this training\, participants will be able to: \n\nRecognize positive aspects of placing siblings together as well as potential barriers and challenges.\nIdentify items to consider before accepting a placement of siblings.\n\nASK-VIP trainings are expressly designed to meet the needs of foster and adoptive parents. Skilled trainers who have lived experiences with fostering and adoption provide these trainings in a virtual group setting. There is 1.5 hours of ongoing\, elective foster parent training credit available for Kentucky’s foster parents. \nCreate an account or log-in to register for this training. A reliable internet connection and a smartphone\, tablet\, or computer with web camera is needed to participate. If there are two adults in the same household that want to participate in this training\, each person must register separately. Foster parent training credit is administered based on the duration of the meeting and each attendee’s participation. DESCRIPTION:Understanding and Coping with Sensory Processing Challenges provides parents with tools to engage and work with children who display sensory processing challenges. SUMMARY:First Steps: Kentucky’s Early Intervention System
DESCRIPTION:First Steps: Kentucky’s Early Intervention System explores the services provided by this program. Participants learn how to refer children ages zero to three who have developmental delays\, or medical conditions known to cause developmental delays\, for First Steps services. How to work with the program to create an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) is explored. \nAfter completing this training\, participants will be able to: \n\nArticulate how to refer children ages 0-3 years old who have developmental delays or medical conditions known to cause developmental delays to First Steps for evaluation.\nDiscuss services provided and how to work with the KEIS team to create and follow an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) for children zero through three years old.\n\nASK-VIP trainings are expressly designed to meet the needs of foster and adoptive parents. Skilled trainers who have lived experiences with fostering and adoption provide these trainings in a virtual group setting.
