SUMMARY:Kinship Live Virtual Webinar Training – “Parenting Series: Behaviors Out Of Control. Managing Defiance And Oppositional Defiant Behaviors (ODD)”
DESCRIPTION:Children with Oppositional Defiant Disorder\, or ODD\, often struggle with defiant behaviors in which they challenge caregivers\, break rules\, lose their temper\, even becoming frequently angry or annoyed. For these children and families\, these daily conflicts can be very stressful-especially when it can be difficult to manage. In this webinar\, we’ll look at appropriate intervention strategies including how caregivers can respond to help their child while attempting to create a less stressful environment. We’ll also take a look at positive discipline strategies that will can be more effective providing appropriate discipline. \nREGISTER NOW \nAbout the Trainer: \nDr. Marlene Huff\, LCSW\, PhD is an individual counselor with Creative Solutions of the Bluegrass\, LLC\, in Lexington\, KY. Dr. Huff specializes in Mental Health\, Addiction (Substance Use Disorder)\, Relationship issues\, and is a Marriage & Family Therapist. Dr. Huff has 16 years experience in the field treating conditions such as stress\, depressive disorders\, mood disorders\, ADHD\, anger management\, domestic violence\, and parenting issues. Dr. Huff is presently writing a book discussing Kinship Care. \nDr. Huff attended the University of Kentucky\, studying psychology as an undergraduate\, and achieving her Master’s Degree and PhD in Social Work and Medical Sociology from the University of Kentucky in 1999. \nPlease note: Although this LIVE webinar is designed to be an informative\, educational\, and helpful resource for kinship families caring for relative or fictive kin children\, anyone is welcome to attend including foster parents\, professionals\, students\, or community members. \nIt is our hope that by participating in this LIVE webinar\, attendees will receive educational and helpful information. However\, it is important to note that this webinar is not approved for foster parent training credit or CEU’s as attendance is not monitored during the webinar event.

SUMMARY:Kinship Families Impacted By Substance Use KIN VIP Support Group
DESCRIPTION:This new KIN VIP Support Group will begin as a 12-week pilot Support Group and will provide a community of support for kinship caregivers who have been impacted by a family member’s substance use. This group will offer a safe space where kinship caregivers can find support\, understanding\, resources\, and hope. \nThe group is completely free and available to any caregiver raising a relative or fictive kin child. Once we reach at least 8-10 members\, we will start the group! \nFor all those who attend at least 10 of the 12 sessions and complete a survey review of the group\, a financial incentive is available! \nContact Sheila Rentfrow at sheila.rentfrow@uky.edu for more information or sign up to secure your spot! \nREGISTER NOW
