SUMMARY:Creative Parenting: New Ways To Focus On Your Child
DESCRIPTION:Creative Parenting: New Ways to Focus on Your Child is designed to help parents recognize the value of seeking to understand the meaning behind a child’s behavior. It explores the importance of creating time to connect with children one-on-one\, modeling appropriate coping strategies\, having consistent expectations\, praising desirable behaviors\, and redirecting challenging behavior. \nAfter completing this training\, participants will be able to: \n\nIdentify ways to reframe challenging child behaviors.\nUtilize positive discipline strategies.\n\nASK-VIP trainings are expressly designed to meet the needs of foster and adoptive parents. Skilled trainers who have lived experiences with fostering and adoption provide these trainings in a virtual group setting. There is 1.5 hours of ongoing\, elective foster parent training credit available for Kentucky’s foster parents. \nCreate an account or log-in to register for this training. A reliable internet connection and a smartphone\, tablet\, or computer with web camera is needed to participate. If there are two adults in the same household that want to participate in this training\, each person must register separately. Foster parent training credit is administered based on the duration of the meeting and each attendee’s participation. SUMMARY:First Steps: Kentucky’s Early Intervention System
DESCRIPTION:First Steps: Kentucky’s Early Intervention System explores the services provided by this program. Participants learn how to refer children ages zero to three who have developmental delays\, or medical conditions known to cause developmental delays\, for First Steps services. How to work with the program to create an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) is explored. \nAfter completing this training\, participants will be able to: \n\nArticulate how to refer children ages 0-3 years old who have developmental delays or medical conditions known to cause developmental delays to First Steps for evaluation.\nDiscuss services provided and how to work with the KEIS team to create and follow an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) for children zero through three years old.\n\nASK-VIP trainings are expressly designed to meet the needs of foster and adoptive parents. Skilled trainers who have lived experiences with fostering and adoption provide these trainings in a virtual group setting. DESCRIPTION:Positive Discipline for Teenagers will provide foster/Adoptive Parents with effective tools that will guide them to positive discipline and communication with teenagers that are in their care/home. It discusses the importance of using partnership based approach to discipline. \nAfter completing this training\, participants will be able to: \n\nIdentify the three main styles of discipline and the importance of daily positive reinforcement and feedback when disciplining teenagers.\nDescribe how and when to compromise when setting rules and consequences for teens\, the importance of setting logical and appropriate consequences and when to enforce them.\n\nASK-VIP trainings are expressly designed to meet the needs of foster and adoptive parents. Skilled trainers who have lived experiences with fostering and adoption provide these trainings in a virtual group setting.
