This webinar will be important for any caregiver who is working through parenting issues of a child who has experienced trauma and is struggling to interact with their friends\, teachers\, and caregivers.  This webinar will provide practical suggestions for any caregiver to utilize with the children they care for! \nAbout the Trainer: \nDr. Tess Smith-Thomas is a pediatric psychology post-doctoral scholar at the University of Kentucky and Kentucky Children’s Hospital. DESCRIPTION:This new KIN VIP Support Group will begin as a 12-week pilot Support Group and will provide a community of support for kinship caregivers who have been impacted by a family member’s substance use. This group will offer a safe space where kinship caregivers can find support\, understanding\, resources\, and hope. \nThe group is completely free and available to any caregiver raising a relative or fictive kin child. SUMMARY:Stress Management For Caregivers
DESCRIPTION:Stress Management for Caregivers will equip foster/adoptive parents with tools to understand what stress and caregiver burnout is\, and how to cope with the unique stressors of being foster/adoptive families. The training will equip foster and adoptive parents with coping skills when stress and burnout do occur. \nAfter completing this training\, participants will be able to: \n\nRecognize the signs of physical\, emotional\, or psychological stress and burnout in themselves and others.\nUtilize coping skills to decrease stress and burnout.\n\nASK-VIP trainings are expressly designed to meet the needs of foster and adoptive parents. Skilled trainers who have lived experiences with fostering and adoption provide these trainings in a virtual group setting. There is 1.5 hours of ongoing\, elective foster parent training credit available for Kentucky’s foster parents. \nCreate an account or log-in to register for this training. A reliable internet connection and a smartphone\, tablet\, or computer with web camera is needed to participate. If there are two adults in the same household that want to participate in this training\, each person must register separately. Foster parent training credit is administered based on the duration of the meeting and each attendee’s participation. SUMMARY:Teaching Growth Mindset To Children
DESCRIPTION:Teaching Growth Mindset to Children introduces parents to the two types of mindsets and how beneficial it is for parents to help their children develop a growth mindset.  This training will also cover a step-by-step outline for how to teach growth mindset to children over a four week period. \nAfter completing this training\, participants will: \n\nlearn how to differentiate between growth and the fixed mindset.​\nthink about what type of mindset you have.​\nlearn how to teach growth mindset techniques to children of all ages.​\n\nASK-VIP trainings are expressly designed to meet the needs of foster and adoptive parents. SUMMARY:First Steps: Kentucky’s Early Intervention System
DESCRIPTION:First Steps: Kentucky’s Early Intervention System explores the services provided by this program. Participants learn how to refer children ages zero to three who have developmental delays\, or medical conditions known to cause developmental delays\, for First Steps services. How to work with the program to create an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) is explored. \nAfter completing this training\, participants will be able to: \n\nArticulate how to refer children ages 0-3 years old who have developmental delays or medical conditions known to cause developmental delays to First Steps for evaluation.\nDiscuss services provided and how to work with the KEIS team to create and follow an Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) for children zero through three years old.\n\nASK-VIP trainings are expressly designed to meet the needs of foster and adoptive parents. Skilled trainers who have lived experiences with fostering and adoption provide these trainings in a virtual group setting.
