DESCRIPTION:Clinical supervision is a crucial aspect of social work practice that ensures ethical and competent service delivery. It offers strategies and ideas to help parents be prepared for unique situations that may occur as their children grow and mature. By being prepared for various scenarios parents will be able to respond appropriately and act responsively. \nAfter completing this training\, participants will be able to: \n\nArticulate the unique emotions adoption creates for adoptees and specific questions to ask to help diffuse some of the unique emotions and fears adoptees may have.\nDescribe how to act responsively rather than react to the emotions and fears of children who are adopted.\n\nASK-VIP trainings are expressly designed to meet the needs of foster and adoptive parents. Skilled trainers who have lived experiences with fostering and adoption provide these trainings in a virtual group setting. DESCRIPTION:Are you caring for a child with a traumatic brain injury? Are you unsure of what physical\, behavioral\, and cognitive challenges you may see as a result of the injury? What services are available for my child? How can I best support and advocate for them? \nIn this webinar\, we’ll explore together how to: \n\nUnderstand what happens when a brain is injured.\nUnderstand the changes you may see after an injury.\nNavigation of and what to expect during the rehabilitation process.\nThe process of returning to home\, school\, and community and the associated challenges\, and strategies to implement along the way.\n\nAbout the Trainer: \nJanice Osborne Dowdy\, MS/CCC-SLP\, CBIS\, is a speech-language pathologist at NeuroRestorative in Ashland\, Kentucky. Janice is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist\, through the Academy of Certified Brain Injury Specialists\, part of the Brain Injury Association of America. She is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and East Tennessee State University. \nJanice has been a practicing SLP for 24 years. She has worked in acute care\, long term acute care\, skilled nursing\, post acute rehabilitation\, and acute rehabilitation in inpatient\, outpatient\, and day treatment programs both as a staff therapist\, and in various management roles. Janice also worked as Clinical Specialist for Vital Stim Therapy\, traveling the USA providing education and consulting services in the management and treatment of dysphagia utilizing the modality of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES). Discover how to create a nurturing\, safe environment that fosters healing and connection. \nASK-VIP trainings are expressly designed to meet the needs of foster and adoptive parents. Skilled trainers who have lived experiences with fostering and adoption provide these trainings in a virtual group setting. There is 1.5 hours of ongoing\, elective foster parent training credit available for Kentucky’s foster parents. \nCreate an account or log-in to register for this training. A reliable internet connection and a smartphone\, tablet\, or computer with web camera is needed to participate. If there are two adults in the same household that want to participate in this training\, each person must register separately. Foster parent training credit is administered based on the duration of the meeting and each attendee’s participation.
