DESCRIPTION:Raising children when they are small can be fun–from reading story books to learning ABC’s and counting with cute rhymes\, the possibilities to create wonderful bonds and fun times together are seemingly endless.  But as they grow and are approach their teen years\, you may notice changes in their moods and behaviors.  Their emotional reactions and opinions become more pronounced\, they may have lost interest in their toys or hobbies and instead become more interested in their appearances and peer group. \nYou may be thinking that your young child is already turning into a teenager and may be asking yourself “What do I do now?”  Whether you have a tween (8-12 years old) or a teen (age 12- 19)\, this is the group for you! SUMMARY:Kinship Live Virtual Webinar Training – Trauma Series Part I: Understanding The Trauma Connection
DESCRIPTION:In part I of our Trauma Series\, we will be taking a look at trauma from your child’s point of view\, including understanding the feelings they have after witnessing negative circumstances and being removed from their parents\, to connecting the trauma to the behaviors they have at home and at school. We’ll also learn how to recognize behaviors that are a result of the trauma they have experienced versus behaviors that are not. \nREGISTER NOW \nAbout the Trainer: \nDr. Brittany Gentry is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Dr. Gentry obtained her Bachelors\, Masters\, and Doctorate in Social Work from the University of Kentucky. Dr. Gentry is currently the Co-Clinical Director at the Trauma-Informed Counseling Center (T.I.C.C) and Founder of the Trauma\, Education & Advocacy Corporation (TEA)\, a non-profit agency in Lexington\, KY. Over the last ten years\, Dr. Gentry has provided therapeutic services for children\, adolescents\, and families in various therapeutic settings (in-home\, outpatient\, and school-based). Despite her experience with various populations\, Dr. Gentry’s true passion is providing trauma-informed services to adolescents involved in the juvenile justice system. In 2023\, Dr. Gentry presented at the 2023 TedXBellarmine U event at Bellarmine University\, NAMI Houston Conference\, and one of the recipients of the Sneaker Ball Lex: KOTD Affair Community Influencer Award. \nPlease note: Although this LIVE webinar is designed to be an informative\, educational\, and helpful resource for kinship families caring for relative or fictive kin children\, anyone is welcome to attend including foster parents\, professionals\, students\, or community members. \nIt is our hope that by participating in this LIVE webinar\, attendees will receive educational and helpful information.
