The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC) has a new medical/mental health prison opening in Lexington this year! Located on the grounds of DOC’s Blackburn Correctional Complex, the Social Service Clinician will be responsible for reentry planning and treatment of offenders in order to address their criminogenic needs and prepare them to reenter the community.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

-Provide therapeutic services through the assessment of offender needs.  -Perform needs assessments and develop individual plans.
-Lead therapeutic groups and recreation activities.
-Cognitive counseling on a one-on-one basis.
-Coordinate with other program areas as needed.
-Track data and provide reports and statistical data as needed.
-Participate in multi-disciplinary planning and treatment planning.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: A master’s degree in social work, sociology, psychology, marriage and family therapy or a related field.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have one year of professional social work experience.

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: A bachelor’s degree supplemented by three years of professional social work experience will substitute for the primary education and experience requirements.

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
