Our research is community-based and multidisciplinary, identifying social problems and finding solutions that promote individual and community well-being. We advance research that impacts fields including child welfare, substance use, gerontology, inequality and social justice, poverty, well-being and health disparities, violence, and suicide. We provide educational research and evaluation that prepares students to challenge social injustice around the world.
The College of Social Work (CoSW) fosters a robust culture of research predicated on consistent faculty, staff, and student development, intentional investment in research infrastructure, and rigorous evaluation of CoSW research initiatives.
Consistent with the mission of the Social Work profession, CoSW faculty, staff, and students are steadfastly committed to improving the human condition. This commitment is actualized via cutting-edge research in a variety of substantive areas. Our faculty/staff are recognized as regional, national, and global experts in a variety of fields of study, including child welfare, substance use, gerontology, inequality and social justice, poverty, health disparities, self-care and wellness, violence, and suicide, among others. CoSW research works span basic and applied sciences, and promote translational and evidenced-based clinical, group, and community practice modalities.
