Margaret Hazlette graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Education in 1980 and became an elementary school teacher in Johnson
County, Kentucky. Margaret went on to receive her Master’s degree in psychometry from Eastern Kentucky University in 1985 and her Master of Social Work degree in 1992. In 2002, Margaret was awarded the Jessamine County Leadership Award for her leadership in the district’s response to the tragic deaths of four students and two sheriff deputies. Margaret was appointed to the Kentucky Board of Social Work in 2000 by Governor Patton and was reappointed to the Board in 2004 by Governor Fletcher. Margaret believes that licensing of all social workers provides equity and accountability in social work practice as means to ensure social justice for all.
