To honor and thank our alumni during National Criminal Justice Month and National Social Work Month, the University of Kentucky College of Social Work, via the Office of Professional Development and Continuing Education, is pleased to offer one free online continuing education (CE) course* per alumnus during the month of March.
This offer is only available to alumni members of the College of Social Work’s private group on Wildcat Network.

Throughout the month of March, CoSW alumni will be eligible to take one free asynchronous continuing education (CE) course.
Alumni can obtain a registration code through the Wildcat Network and redeem the course via the UKY Learning Management System (LMS).

A month-long College of Social Work Pop-Up Shop will be open on campus featuring CoSW-branded merchandise.

CoSW will host a tabling event in the Gatton Student Center, open to all students where there will be trivia, classic arcade games (including Ms. Pac-Man), swag giveaways, as well as recruiters and student ambassadors on site.

CoSW will host a hands-on de-escalation training for students, similar to last year’s highly attended session. Led by Officer Culver of the UK Police Department, the training will be offered hybrid with in-person and virtual options available.
The training will focus on navigating high-stress situations, safely de-escalating tense encounters, and promoting positive outcomes in professional practice.

CoSW will also host an in-person CE event at the Center of Excellence in Rural Health in Hazard, Kentucky.

CoSW will host appreciation events recognizing social workers and security professionals across UK HealthCare and other campus settings. Events will include free gifts for UKHC and UKPD employees.

A Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) setup will take place on campus and online with the Lexington Police Department. The session will include demonstrations related to crime scene investigation and forensic techniques, giving attendees a closer look at how evidence is documented and analyzed in real-world cases.

CoSW will host a hybrid Parole Hearing Process event, open to students, alumni and community members.

The month will conclude with a College of Social Work gathering at the UK Baseball game.
The event will include a gathering space for CoSW employees, food, and tabling by the Sport Social Work Research Lab, featuring swag and opportunities to learn more about the lab’s work.
