Micro-credential Substance Use Counseling Info Session

The Undergraduate Micro-Credential in Substance Use Counseling is designed to meet urgent behavioral health workforce needs across Kentucky’s Commonwealth.
Created in partnership with the Kentucky Center on Addiction Studies and Research, this program gives students the knowledge, skills, and state-recognized training needed to make an immediate difference in the fight against substance use disorders.
Upon completion, students are eligible for Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor Associate I (CADCA I) recognition—a key milestone toward becoming a licensed addiction counselor in Kentucky.
While especially valuable for students in the Bachelor of Arts in Social Work (BASW) program, this credential is also open to qualified students from other disciplines whose academic background aligns with program objectives. It is ideal for those pursuing careers in substance use counseling, behavioral health, or community-based care.
