Students have the option to pursue a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. The program is available fully online and on campus, providing you with the flexibility to complete your degree in the modality that works best for you.
The Criminal Justice Program is designed to equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in this vibrant field. Our program is built upon a dynamic curriculum that goes beyond a surface level understanding to delve deep into the underlying cultural, economic, and political connections with social harm, crime, and systems of social control. By exploring these complex issues, we prepare our students to think critically, analyze situations and events, and develop innovative solutions to the challenges facing our society today.
By joining our Criminal Justice program, you will have the opportunity to learn from those whose expertise and guidance will provide you with valuable insights and mentorship throughout your academic journey. With a strong focus on real-world applications and practical skills, the University of Kentucky College of Social Work’s Criminal Justice program is designed to prepare you for a wide range of career paths including:
Students may choose to enroll in all online courses, allowing flexible program completion from anywhere. Online students have access to the same support and services as on campus students.
CoSW students have the opportunity to work in a wide range of field placement settings, gaining hands-on practice experience that prepares them for the workforce.
Students can study abroad, engage in service learning, and complete the Diversity Certificate. Each of these will enhance their world view and broaden their appreciation of difference.
All BACJ/BSCJ Advisors have a certificate of appreciative advising, which means that they are well-equipped to help you optimize your educational experiences and achieve your goals in your future career in Criminal Justice.
