LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 20, 2026) — Following a successful in-person screening this spring, the University of Kentucky College of Social Work (CoSW), in partnership with the Department for Community Based Services (DCBS), will host a virtual screening of “Their Truth” on Wednesday, Nov. 4, at 3 p.m. ET.
The documentary shares the lived experiences of youth aging out of foster care, offering a firsthand look at the challenges, resilience and growth that shape their transition to adulthood. Through their stories, the film highlights the importance of strong support systems in helping young people build stable, successful futures.
The original premiere, held April 30 at the Lyric Theatre in Lexington, brought together child welfare professionals, community partners and supporters for a screening and live panel discussion featuring the young people highlighted in the documentary. The event created an opportunity to listen, learn and reflect on the experiences of youth transitioning out of foster care.
Building on the conversations started during the premiere, the upcoming virtual screening will provide an opportunity for more individuals to experience the documentary and engage with its message.
During the screening, attendees will have access to a live chat, allowing viewers to connect with others, share reflections and ask questions throughout the film.
The virtual screening is open to the public, and registration is now open. Attendees are encouraged to register in advance to receive information on how to access the screening.

Whether experiencing “Their Truth” for the first time or revisiting the documentary following its spring premiere, attendees are invited to be part of an ongoing conversation about the experiences of young people transitioning out of foster care.
Through continued opportunities to share these stories, CoSW and DCBS hope to strengthen awareness, understanding and support for Kentucky’s youth and families.
