Applicants for the MSCJ program must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution and do not need to take the GRE. Please see below for further requirements.
Admissions Requirements
Students seeking admission to the Master of Science in Criminal Justice program must meet UK Graduate School Admissions Requirements including:
- Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a fully accredited institution
- Minimum Undergraduate GPA: 2.75
- Minimum Graduate GPA: 3.0
Application Materials
- Transcripts: You will be asked to upload copies of transcripts from all higher education institutions attended and, in the case of domestic students, to self-report cumulative GPAs for each institution. If you are offered admission and decide to enroll, you will then be required to submit official transcripts to the Graduate School.
- The GRE is not required for admission to this program.
How to Apply
- The application for the MSCJ program is completed through the Online Graduate Application Portal:
- Applicants must set up an account in the online application portal and establish a username and password. Do not lose your log in information as you will need it if you wish to return to continue an unfinished application or review a completed application.
- As part of the admissions process, your application will be reviewed by the College of Social Work and the Graduate School. The college’s admissions committee reviews your application materials and then forwards a recommendation to the Graduate School. The Graduate School makes an independent admissions determination based on your eligibility for graduate admission to UK. You must be accepted by both the College of Social Work and the Graduate School to be fully admitted into the program and eligible for enrollment. The College of Social Work and the Graduate School will email separate admissions letters after your application has been evaluated.

Petition for Exceptional Consideration
If you do not currently meet the admissions requirements for the MSCJ program and your undergraduate GPA is between 2.5 and 2.74, you can petition for exceptional consideration for admission.
