Green Dot Workshop

Green Dot is a bystander intervention program designed to reduce instances of interpersonal violence through proactive and reactive strategies. The program empowers members of the UK community to intervene safely and effectively in potentially harmful situations. This workshop will be facilitated by Fadyia Lowe and tailored specifically to College of Social Work students.
Fadyia Lowe graduated from the University of KY College of Communication and Information in 2004 with a BA in Corporate Communication. She completed her Masters degree in 2006 in Health Promotion from UK College of Education. She began working at University Health Service in June of 2006 as one of the first and only Health Education Specialist on UKs campus. She was tasked with developing a comprehensive evidenced based health education and wellness department. She became a certified health education specialist in 2007 and a certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist In 2008 and helped to launch UKs Tobacco-Free Campus by providing counseling and nicotine replacement therapy for students interested in quitting tobacco. In 2015 she was promoted to the UHS Health Education and Wellness Manager where she oversees a growing team comprised of health education specialists, health and wellness coaches, a registered dietitian and several student peer health educators.
