Overview

The Assistant Elementary Program Coordinator is a full-time position, and is available for immediate hire. This person will provide leadership for our After-School and Summer Programs as a Lead Mentor in an elementary classroom. They will build mentoring relationships with students, manage a classroom, oversee volunteer mentors in their class, and help to address barriers to basic needs. They will also provide administrative support to our Elementary After-School and Family Support Programs.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Provide leadership for our program each day; work alongside staff and volunteers to implement our program in a successful, structured fashion.
  2. Build meaningful mentor relationships with students.
  3. Enforce Common Good’s discipline policy. Address and manage discipline issues promptly and assist the Elementary Program Coordinator in communicating issues to parents/guardians.
  4. Carry out objectives and performance measures developed by Common Good staff that address students’ educational, emotional, behavioral, and social growth. Conduct assessments in order to monitor students’ growth and development.
  5. Assist with maintaining a good, working relationship within the school system to better meet the emotional, behavioral, and academic needs of the students.
  6. Tutor our students weekly in their elementary school.
  7. Ensure facilities are clean, organized, and conducive to learning.
  8. Develop and maintain positive relationships with students’ parents or guardians.
  9. Keep office and program hours Monday-Friday.  Occasional out-of-program hours required.
  10. Assist Elementary Program and Family Support Program teams in planning events and holiday parties.
  11. Assist in developing educational content for our Elementary Summer Program.
  12. Assist in training and recruiting volunteers, leading one-on-one trainings as needed, and checking references for Elementary Program volunteers.
  13. Perform a weekly store run on Fridays to purchase supplies for our program.
  14. Support organizational needs beyond core responsibilities as needed, demonstrating a team-oriented approach to achieving organizational goals.

 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualities:

  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • High levels of initiative and organizational skills.
  • A strong passion and commitment to mission and outreach in an underserved community.
  • Experience working in an urban setting with students.

Education: 

Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
