About The BASW Program

The Social Work major at UK is an exciting undergraduate degree program that sets students up for many different post-graduation plans. Many of our Social Work majors go on to graduate school in Social Work or a related field (such as Law or Public Policy). Eligible undergraduates may qualify for our 4+1 MSW program, allowing them to complete their MSW in just one year. Students who enter the workforce after graduation are prepared for a wide range of careers within the profession. Our recent graduates are working in hospitals, community-based non-profits, K-12 schools, universities, residential treatment programs, the criminal justice system, and more.

BASW students may choose to complete coursework online or in person. Students work with the same world-class faculty and highly engaged academic advisors in the online and face-to-face programs. The BASW is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and offers the highest quality undergraduate social work education in Kentucky. Our faculty and staff work hard to ensure students have opportunities to engage in a wide range of classroom and co-curricular experiences.

Students may declare a Pre-Social Work major at any time, including when they apply to the University. Once prerequisite courses are completed successfully, students apply to the full major through an internal College of Social Work application process
