Dean Jay Miller Announces Appointment of New Associate Dean

Dr. Jacquelynn F. Duron has been named Associate Dean of Faculty Advancement in the College of Social Work at the University of Kentucky.

Lexington, KY (July 2, 2024) – Dean Jay Miller of the University of Kentucky College of Social Work (CoSW) has announced the appointment of Dr. Jacquelynn F. Duron as the new Associate Dean of Faculty Advancement (ADFA). In this role, Dr. Duron will lead the implementation of CoSW’s strategic faculty advancement vision.

This role, which is new to CoSW, was announced by Dean Miller in 2023, and is part of the College’s Forward, Together Strategic Plan

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Duron into this pivotal role,” said Miller. “Her leadership will be instrumental in advancing our mission and actualizing our impact.”

Duron brings a wealth of expertise and dedication to this role. Most recently, Dr. Duron served as an Associate Professor in the School of Social Work at Rutgers University. At Rutgers, Duron led several research endeavors focused on resilience in children and adolescents exposed to adversity and trauma. Additionally, she served as a member of the Protection Committee for the New Jersey Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect, the Youth with Problematic Sexual Behaviors Committee, and has been a governor-appointed member of the Child Advocacy Center Multidisciplinary Team Advisory Board. She co-chaired the Child Well-Being Research Network from 2021 to 2023.

Duron earned her PhD and MSW from the University of Houston, and her BA in Psychology from the University of St. Thomas. In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Duron holds an LCSW and has over 18 years of practice experience. 

Duron formally assumed her role on July 1, 2024.
