Citizen Review Panels (CRP) are groups of volunteers across the nation that are federally mandated to provide support of their state’s child protective services system. In Kentucky, there are active CRPs in all nine Department of Community Based Services service regions, including the Cumberland, Eastern Mountain, Jefferson, Northeastern, Northern Bluegrass, Salt River Trail, Southern Bluegrass, The Lakes, and Two Rivers regions. The panels review policies, procedures, and practices of the child welfare system and make recommendations for improvement that state agencies must respond to.
