Citizen Review Panels (CRP) are groups of volunteers across the nation that are federally mandated to provide support of their state’s child protective services system. In Kentucky, there are active CRPs in the Cumberland, Eastern Mountain, Jefferson, Northeastern, Southern Bluegrass, and Two Rivers service regions of the Department for Community Based Services. The panels review policies, procedures, and practices of the child welfare system and make recommendations for improvement that state agencies must respond to.
